Enjoy the blue of the Cretan Sea

Silver Beach Hotel is on Gerani beach, just a stone’s throw from the blue of the Cretan Sea. The hotel is also only a short distance from Platanias which is the main tourist resort in the area.

While you are staying at Silver Beach, be sure to take the opportunity to visit the enchanting town of Chania which is just 13 km from the hotel.

Chania is not only one of the most beautiful towns in Greece, but also one of the most beautiful places in the entire Mediterranean.

Here, you can get a taste of Greek history by walking down the narrow streets in the old town, visiting the Venetian harbor and the cathedrals or exploring the Jewish quarter. Chania is sophisticated and charming, with lots of areas which look as if they are film sets where you, our Silver Beach guests, will be the stars.

The Venetian Harbor is one of the most picturesque ports in Europe.

Its symbol is the stunning Arabian Lighthouse, which was originally built in 1595 during the Venetian period, and is considered to be one of the oldest lighthouses in the world.

Halidon Street is home to important sights and impressive monuments. The Firka Fortress is just opposite the lighthouse and houses the Maritime Museum. You can also see the Giali Tzami (also called the Mosque Küçük Hasan) which was built by an Armenian architect in the late 17th century. It is now used as an art gallery.

The Old Municipal Market, first opened in 1913, when Eleftherios Venizelos was Prime Minister of Greece.

The Silver Beach hotel will put you in a great holiday mood and is a wonderful starting point for visiting the beaches at Agia Marina, Agioi Apostoloi, Paleochora, Marathi and Frangokastelo.

Excursions

There are also exciting excursions for those who want to take a break from the beach. You can explore the area inland of Chania and discover the creative spirit of its people by taking trips to Vamos, Sfakia village and Therisso.

The natural beauty of the Samaria Gorge makes it one of the most famous National Parks in Greece. It is 16 kilometers long which also makes it one of the longest gorges in Europe and it attracts thousands of visitors each year. Visitors will be enchanted by this unique habitat with its rich flora and fauna.

Agia Irini Gorge in the Selino area. The gorge is 7.50 kilometers long and it takes about 3 hours to walk through it. It is part of the E4 European trail and is also a Natura 2000 protected area. And once you have finished your hike, you can swim in the crystal clear sea at Sougia.
